Northfork: an unusual commentary on life mixed with deadpan humor.
by Charles Waybright
Set in 1955, this movie takes place in a small fictional town somewhere in Montana called Northfork. The town’s survival is up against the advancements of an industrial world that has built a massive hydroelectric dam. Six polished individuals, promised 1.5 acres each of lake front property, are recruited by the power company to evict the remaining residents. The town’s people, who live a simple existence that teeters on a spiritual fantasy world, will soon lose their homes to flooding water as it accumulates behind the massive dam. Northfork is the winner of Best Director award at the Athens International Film Festival, the Golden Fleece award at the Golden Trailer Awards, and the German Independence Award at the Oldenburg Film Festival.
